About Us

Nestled among the white stone thoroughfares of the Mist, just a short walk away from the shores of La Noscea, lies the Red Raven Tavern. A quaint little shop, one glance at the varied mishmash of decorative trophies and worldly treasures outside is all that one needs to understand exactly what this place is: a haven for adventurers of all stripes.
Owned and run by the Redmanes Mercenary Company, the Red Raven Tavern represents the legal public face of their operations. Food and drink is on offer to all citizens looking to fill their bellies or slake their thirsts, while jobs are kept on offer for more adventurous types like themselves, ranging from hunts to escort jobs to odd tasks.
However, there is more to this cozy La Noscean tavern than meets the eye. To the general public, the Red Raven is nothing more than an eatery and a secondary branch of the Adventurer's Guild. However, for those in the know, the Red Raven is both where the desperate and downtrodden can find safe haven, as well as the place to find those blackened types who are willing to dirty their hands with the sort of work those adventurers who remain on the straight and narrow aren't so willing to do.
So come, join us. Whether it be for a drink and a meal, or because you've an urgent request for us to fulfill, the Red Raven Tavern's doors are open to all and sundry.
What is the Red Raven Tavern?
Simply put, we're an Immersive RP venue with a focus on completing high stakes quests and contracts, hosting story heavy RP events, and advancing both the personal stories of our characters as well as that of the growing Redmanes Mercenary Company. Yes, this means we're looking to take on members!
Posing as the Red Raven Tavern on certain days, we work tirelessly to make our names known to as many as we can, even if it means getting our hands dirty. Some see us as heroes, but we don't hold to the hypocritical standards of the Adventurer's Guild or similarly related organizations.
Indeed, we Redmanes are of a darker persuasion; our ranks comprised of those questionable sorts who are willing to sully our hands with wicked deeds in order to achieve good and righteous ends. In short, we're the antiheroes and antivillains, those who fight within the shadows so that we might tame them, and in so doing protect those whom hold dearest to our hearts.

Our Rules of Conduct

Note that these rules apply at all times within both the Red Raven Tavern or Redmanes Mercenary Company roleplay events.Rule 0: This is an 18+ community. We're all adults here! If you're underage, please leave.Rule 1: Separate Art from Artist. This community is one that can find itself delving into darker topics, from mature themes that delve into violence, gore, and torture, to the likes of kidnapping, sexual assault, drug use, and other strong themes. Characters that find themselves here may be not the best people, and as such we ask all parties here to please accept that the character is not the same as the author! Please make sure to separate your feelings of IC storytelling from OOC writers.Rule 2: Communicate.Alongside Rule 1, we implore that all members that find each other communicate things openly and clearly, so as to prevent any instances of Rule 1 breaching to occur. We ask that you keep an open channel with your partners, that you maintain informed avenues of consent and understanding, and that you be open to the same.Rule 3: Talk Things Out!If a problem does arise, please talk things out between each other, first and foremost! If it is impossible to do so, or the problem in question has reached a level where this isn't feasible, don't be afraid to speak to one of The Four Horsemen! (Elysia, Regina, Octavia, or Lysander.) If the problem is severe, we'll act accordingly.Rule 4: NO OUTSIDE DRAMA!This is an important one: Whatever the problems one might have with people, please do not bring it here! We wish to be a neutral ground, one where the fun of the story is paramount, above all else. Please leave outside grievance and external OOC drama at the door. IC drama, though? We love it, so long as it never crosses that line!Rule 5: Keep ERP Private and to a Minimum. The Red Raven is not a brothel. As such, we ask that you please keep explicit ERP or lewdity to party chats or tells and try to engage in that minimally during our operating hours and events. While many of us accept and engage in ERP ourselves, there are many who don't wish to see that sort of content engaged in publicly. Additionally, when ERP gets excessive it can eclipse the real meat and popotoes of the stories we're trying to develop.Rule 6: Use the Golden Rule.As a player, be polite, be kind, try to be understanding of your fellow human. Don't harrass, threaten, or target users OOCly for any reason! The usual common sense stuff. In short, don't treat others in a manner that you wouldn't want them to treat you.Rule 7: NO GODMODDING!As a general rule, we have an open house policy on all characters and power levels. We don't mind if you're a Warrior of Light, a powerful devil, or even someone brought by Omega from another world. So long as the quality of the writing is strong, that won't bother us.However, there is a fine line to walk when it comes to these sorts of things. While we're fine with high powered characters, we want to take care to preserve the fun for all involved. Even characters of immense power take hits, get injured, and get defeated, sometimes at the hands of underdogs. The MSQ of FFXIV is chock full of examples of this, where characters push beyond their expected limits to overcome seemingly impossible odds. (To varying degrees of success and storytelling quality.)Fine though we are with high powered characters, we neither want nor permit Godmodding during our events. For those unsure what this means, consider these as general examples:
1) Writing your character in such a way that they unreasonably shrug off any and all hits from another player they're in combat with.
2) Declaring automatic hits without giving other players a chance to react with their characters.
3) Taking control of other player characters. I.E. declaring that another player commits a certain action in your own posts. (Exceptions can be made if consent is given by the other player.)
In short, if your acting with complete impunity and ignoring the effects and actions of other characters, and doubly so if you're taking control of someone else's character from them, you're Godmodding, and thus ruining the fun for all involved.
